wedding cake confusion
I know that I said I wouldn't post for awhile but I'm at the front desk with nothing to do except try to plan my wedding. It's coming along great but the wedding cake part is driving me nuts. So I'm throwing this out there for any suggestions at all.
What kind of wedding cake doI have?
What design? What flavor? What filling? What shape? ahhh. It's all just too many decisions. Help me!
Thank you.

white cake
white icing
cut in BIG pieces!!
I always think it's pretty to have a couple layers (the stacked one that the bride and groom cut)...save the top for your 1 year anniversary (it will taste like cardboard, but it's tradition)...and then have a few sheet cakes on the side to cut up for the rest of the guests...cheaper and easier....that's my 2 cents....!!
You could go with your wedding colors and do red velvet cake with white icing. Beware though, I don't know it if it'll stain your teeth for pictures. Just a thought! Also, I'd go with the whole stacked look with sheet cakes on the side. :O)
Make sure I can eat it!
You need to go to theknot.com. You can look at pictures of wedding cakes, dresses, bridesmaids dresses, shoes, flowers, everything. It will help you get an idea of what you want. Then you can print off pics and take them into local stores and have them recreate it cheaper. Everyone is right - three-layer stacked with sheet cakes on the side in vanilla and chocolate is the way to go.

For example, I loved the cake that they call "Country Cute" on page 7 in theknot's Wedding Cake Gallery. A woman at church made our cake so I gave her pictures and the florist put the flowers on it. I was very happy with it and it was much cheaper than having it made at a bakery. You'll figure it all out - right now just focus on booking people and places and figuring out what you like and don't like. It will be wonderful!
