One Month left of Summer

This will be a quick post because I'm hungry and I've been craving a Crunch Wrap Supreme from Taco Bell.

This week I've been reading a book called In the Meantime. It's really good and I recommend it to all my college student friends. But I've come to the realization that I need an attitude adjustment about going back to school/work.

Lately I have been dreading it. I'm worried about the kids that I'll get and the sizes my classes could be. I've had several dreams about this subject. All of them include me not being prepared the first day of school and not being able to find any books to hand out to the students. A nightmare you might call it.

But God has been reminding me that I did enjoy it last semester and that I'm good at it and that there were some kids that made it worthwhile. He also keeps telling me that He will use me where I am right now even if that isn't where I think I want to stay forever. I just need to be willing to be used and come into this situation with a teachable heart. God is going to use this in so many ways. I just wish I knew what they were right now, but I'm not supposed to and I'm sure that it's better this way.

Now off to get my lunch!

Semi Weekly Update

This weeks events have included a trip to cornerstone and a huge sale at the Gap. What could be better.

First, last Thursday Tad and I went up to Cornerstone for the day. We saw some really good bands. One of my favorites that I heard for the first time was Anathallo and then there were also the classic favorites like Cool Hand Luke. They always have a good show (if you know the words to the songs) We also saw our friend Apryl there. We had been standing a crowd next to each other waiting for a show to start for 5 minutes before we realized we were standing next to each other. We also saw our friend Jay whose been living in Prague and he Czech Chick (as Apryl calls her) We also got a couple of bags from a vender there that were made by women in India. Making these bags gave them work to do so that they didn't have to sell their bodies on the streets any more. It's a great cause and you should all check it out. It was a good but long day. We didn't get home until 4 am which may not seem late to some of you out there but one day it will be.

Then Monday we painted another room in our house. Our study is now red. I love it. Funny story though. When we went to get the paint the first time they mixed it wrong and we came home with a can of bright hot pink paint. We returned to the store and soon had a beautiful room. Good thing Tad was there because I might have painted the room pink thinking I was just seeing the color wrong ;) I've learned to trust him when it comes to colors.

And then just yesterday we went into Springfield to run a few errands and happened to stop by the Gap looking for sales like we usually do and what did we find? Only the most amazing sale I've seen at the Gap ever. Tad got a pair of $58 pants for a mere $2.97. He ended up getting three pairs of pants and a sweater and I got three shirts all for $35. We added up the origninal prices of everything. Drumroll please....$313. We saved $278! Or you could say we spent $35 that we wouldn't have if we didn't go in at all but you must admit this was amazing. (Now I realize that most people reading this will just thing I'm weird but I do like the Gap but I don't have enough money to shop there so something like this is very exciting in the life a preacher's wife from Lake Fork)

Thus concludes a week in the life of Hannah.

The First Blacketer Family Vacation

Ok well I wouldn't really call it a vacation. Maybe a weekend getaway but more like going to a wedding a staying over night. But it was the first time Tad and I got to stay in a hotel room together. We went up to Iowa for the Von Muenster-Goode wedding. We left early Saturday morning and stopped in Galesburg and ate at Tad's favorite Mexican place from college. Then on to Cedar Rapids. We checked into the hotel then headed to the wedding.

It was very nice and of course Erin was beautiful. I took some pictures but they will probably never make it on here or even off the camera. It was nice to get to see Kristy and Rodney and Laura and Aaron (and their new baby) and of course Todd and Gretchen and the cute little flower girls commonly known as Sarah Jane and Sophia.

Sunday we got up and went to Starbucks (go figure) then had lunch and headed to the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. It was my first experience at an art museum but I loved it like I knew I would. There was a very interesting exhibit there of Cat Chow. She is mainly a fashion designer but makes her clothes not out of normal things ie fabric. There was a dress made out of one single zipper, another made of astroturf, another of sand paper. There was a jacket made out of kleenex and a $1000 dress. Literally it was made of 1000 $1 bills. Very cool. Then we went to a mall and headed home.

Tomorrow is the 4th and my mom is having a garage sale. So if anyone wants any of Hannah or Tad's old clothes come up to Mt. Pulaski and I'll give you special friends discount!
